The Witty Whisker Cat Cafe is nestled next to Saint Augustine's historic district, just a short walk from Flagler College and Saint George Street shopping—a wonderful concoction of kitties and coffee in America's oldest city. The cafe was inspired by the cat cafe trend that originated in Taiwan in the 1990s and has spread throughout Asia, Europe, and major U.S. cities like New York and San Francisco. What makes this concept special is the combination of traditional café experience with a separate, easily accessible cat lounge where happy, healthy, adoptable cats await human connection.
General admission to the cat lounge is $12 per person; children under 2 are admitted free. It's completely free to visit the café area and view the cats while sipping on a mocha or latte. The maximum capacity of the cat room is 8 guests at once, ensuring a calm, manageable environment. Plenty of toys are available for interactive play. The space is clean, warm, and welcoming with a gift shop featuring cat pins, stickers, plushies, cups, bowls, and other cat-themed merchandise.
Beyond general admission, special classes and events are offered on select dates and times—check the reservation page for options. Private parties are available, including special packages with Meowditation and Painting with Kitties experiences—perfect for birthdays, bachelorette parties, and other celebrations. All cats are provided by
Feline Canopy of Care, a local nonprofit cat rescue; adoption inquiries go through their process at fcocinc.org. Staff are warm, friendly, and genuinely invested in the guest experience. Visitors describe the space as healing, noting how it calms anxiety and stress. The cats display individual "purrr-sonalities," and many are friendly and affectionate, sometimes sleeping next to guests. Whether you're considering adoption or simply seeking quality time with felines, every visit supports the important cause of finding rescued cats their forever homes.
