The Caffeinated Cat is Jacksonville Beach's first and only feline coffee shop, serving Duval County as both a cozy cafe and cat adoption center. Owner Tammy King founded the space in 2019 as an extension of
Mayport Cats, her nonprofit rescue organization specializing in street cats, which she's been running for 17 years. Her guiding light was a sense of duty toward Jacksonville's strays; The Caffeinated Cat emerged from her passion to provide space for cat adoption while serving excellent coffee.
The space is small but bright and colorful, with a welcoming atmosphere where cats take center stage. There is no entrance fee or time slot requirement—a refreshing accessibility feature. Cats are free-roaming throughout the cafe, with cooler and warmer areas allowing them to self-regulate. The cafe features a straightforward drink menu with seasonal rotations: lemonades in flavors like blue cotton candy, strawberry, coconut, and açaí; sweet and unsweetened teas with similar flavor options; and coffee drinks including cold brew, lattes, cappuccinos, and espresso with customizable additions like caramel or chocolate syrup, oat milk, almond milk, or various creamers. The lavender lemonade is particularly beloved by regulars.
All cats are adopted from Mayport Cats rescue and include many special needs animals that have been socialized and are extremely sweet, energetic, and comfortable with people. A small merchandise shop in back features cat-themed items. The adoption center aspect is central to the mission: visitors support a fantastic cause through drink purchases, merchandise, and their presence. The cafe provides a hidden gem atmosphere where locals gather, and where you might just find your new furry companion while sipping excellent coffee. It's a straightforward, genuine space dedicated to cat welfare and community connection.
