About Cat Cafe Nouvelle Vague
Housed on the fourth floor of a distinctive building in Ginowan marked by large animal illustrations, Nouvelle Vague operates as a dedicated interaction-focused rescue cat adoption space rather than a traditional cafe. The facility maintains approximately 20 rescue cats, ranging from kittens to seniors, with multiple cats successfully transitioning to permanent homes. The owner demonstrates deep commitment to sustainable animal protection, viewing the cafe as a mechanism for converting visitor participation directly into support for rescue operations.
The interior eschews conventional cafe aesthetics in favor of maximizing cat comfort and interaction. Beverages arrive in bottles to minimize spill risks during active play sessions. The space offers practical amenities including Wi-Fi and power outlets, supporting the popular "neko working" concept—visitors completing light tasks while surrounded by cats. An onsite premium pet food shop and merchandise sales funnel all proceeds directly to cat care. The building houses an affiliated veterinary clinic, providing immediate access to professional health guidance during adoption consultations—a significant advantage for first-time adopters.
Guest testimonies emphasize the exceptional friendliness of the resident cats and the owner's genuine passion for animal welfare. Multiple reviews document successful adoption journeys, with particular praise for the detailed personality explanations, non-pressured approach, and comprehensive support. Adopters receive trial periods and maintain direct LINE communication with staff throughout the transition, addressing questions and concerns promptly. The pricing structure remains reasonable compared to other regions, and the staff includes both owner and dedicated volunteers. The physical proximity to veterinary care during the adoption decision process proves particularly valuable for first-time cat guardians managing anxiety about health and compatibility. The number of successful adoptions—with cats graduating from the cafe to permanent homes—demonstrates the effectiveness of the interaction model combined with conscientious adoption practices.
