The Qattery

The Qattery is Wolverhampton's artisan coffee shop and unique cat cafe born from an extraordinary rescue mission in Qatar. All 19 resident cats were rescued from the scorching streets of Qatar where they faced unsurvivable conditions—temperatures exceeding 50°C, limited food/water, and only 2-year average lifespans. The founders rescued Blu (a 5-week-old kitten with a broken leg) and subsequently saved over 30 cats; 19 were successfully relocated 4,500 miles to the UK. The cafe emerged from a desire to create a sanctuary while spending quality time with the cats. Upstairs is the cat area; downstairs offers artisan coffee and full breakfast/lunch menu. Each cat has profound rescue history: Jasmine (one eye, ulcered vision) remains "a spirited little warrior"; Lucy survived panleukopenia but lives with irritable bowel syndrome; Sammie was rescued from brutal mistreatment. The founders funded numerous Trap, Neuter, Release (TNR) initiatives from their own pockets to help street colonies.

Reviewers consistently praise the cats' friendly, alert, and playful nature. Staff knowledge is praised; one reviewer loved eggs royale so much they gave special recognition. The cozy, aesthetically pleasing downstairs cafe serves excellent breakfast (£6.25–£10.50 for full traditional English, vegan brunch £8.25, eggs royale £7.50), sandwiches, salads, and cakes. Upstairs cat area bookings: 30-minute sessions at £5 per person; book two back-to-back sessions (45-min break between) for 1 hour plus 15 minutes free.
