About Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium
Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium is London's original cat cafe, operating since 2014 from Greenwich (recently reopened at new location near Greenwich Market). Founded by passionate cat enthusiasts, the small business serves as long-term foster home for rescue cats—ultimate goal nurturing growth, building confidence, and finding forever homes. The cafe takes in cats directly, often from situations shelters have turned away; 2024 saw 30% increase in animal abandonment (per Cats Protection), requiring expanded capacity. All 80+ cats successfully rehomed since opening represent 99.99% adoption success rate (only one return due to mismatch). Recent rescues include Prince, Baloo, Jinx, Charlie II, with kittens occasionally present (integrated into main clowder for mutual socialization benefit). Licensed under Animal Welfare (Licensing) Regulations 2018 (Licence LN18675, Royal Borough of Greenwich). In-house bakery opened with cat-themed menu; Head Baker Temini Kasumu creates all vegan bakes (no meat, dairy, eggs). Two-floor venue cats navigate freely; high shelves, cat trees, hidden rest areas available.
Reviewers describe "truly special little cat cafe with heart in right place," emphasizing genuine rescue focus and welfare-first approach. Cats "clearly well cared for and comfortable," with "own personality"—some playful/curious, others reserved/lounging. Environment "clean, calm, thoughtfully designed" with "plenty of climbing shelves, tunnels, cozy spots." Staff "friendly, knowledgeable, genuinely passionate," willing to share stories. Atmosphere "warm, welcoming"—"easy to sit back, unwind, enjoy company." Cats seen during "feeding time" (hectic but fun). Recent reopening location near Greenwich Market praised for maintaining "same feeling" as previous location despite smaller space; "calm and chill environment" with "games and puzzles" (cats joined in). Peach tea "delicious." Staff (Chloe, Zoe, Camilla) noted as "lovely," "very welcoming," "super nice." Scones/afternoon tea highly praised.
Pricing: 90-minute session £18/person; 1-hour session £12/person; Whisker Wednesday (30 min, Wed only) £5/person—includes coffee/tea in takeaway, biscuits, tarts, toffles (no kitchen service). Cream Tea with Cats (upcoming) £60-minute session + scone, jam, clotted cream, beverage. Children 12+ only (no exceptions); ages 12-17 need adult chaperone (18+); 1 adult per 3 under-18s.
