Kitty Cat Cafe is Ayrshire's first cat cafe, founded by NHS nurses Amy Anderson and Laura Harvey after years of visiting cat cafes across Scotland with their children. Their dream transformed into a reality—a warm, welcoming space combining their love of cats, community, and quality coffee. The cafe is home to approximately 18–20 friendly, beautifully groomed cats living across two rooms, the second of which one visitor described as "a cat's paradise." The venture earned recognition as the best new small business, reflecting the genuine care embedded in every detail. Entry fees directly support the cats' welfare, covering food, litter, toys, and veterinary care.
The resident cats receive dedicated attention and have plenty of enrichment: toys, beds, scratching areas, and vertical climbing spaces throughout the spacious rooms. Visitors consistently praise how happy and content the cats appear, with staff happily sharing each feline's rescue story. The Sphinx cats are particularly charming—described as heat seekers prone to climbing up jumpers for warmth. The cafe serves a delightful selection of hot and cold drinks alongside freshly baked cakes; the carrot cake receives special mention. The atmosphere is spotlessly clean, relaxing, and genuinely family-friendly, with reviewers noting it's perfect for first-time visitors and cat lovers alike.
Located on the Ayr seafront, Kitty Cat Cafe is open Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays with five one-hour sessions: 11am–12pm, 12:30–1:30pm, 2–3pm, 3:30–4:30pm, and 5–6pm. Entry is £8 per person (adults and children ages 1–12); babies are free. Bookings are recommended but walk-ins welcome if space available. Babies do not require tickets; children must be supervised.
