About Alley Kats Deal Den
Nestled along the Trans-Canada Highway in Duncan, British Columbia, Alley Kats Deal Den represents a refreshingly unconventional approach to animal rescue, combining a carefully curated antique and collectibles shop with an integrated cat lounge and adoption program. Founded by Alex and Kat, this locally owned business merges two passions—rescuing animals and preserving unique vintage treasures—into a single community gathering space. The kitty lounge operates as a home-away-home for adoptable cats and kittens awaiting placement, with the cafe having successfully facilitated over 90 adoptions to loving families. The shop itself showcases handcrafted and vintage pieces selected for quality and character, featuring an eclectic array of items from antique games and vintage fighter pilot gear to quality sterling silver jewelry, retro costume pieces, homemade indigenous jewelry, and distinctive furniture pieces with storied histories. This hybrid model allows visitors to simultaneously support animal rescue efforts and discover meaningful vintage finds, creating a community space where relaxation, shopping, and meaningful connection all intersect naturally.
The cats and kittens at Alley Kats Deal Den are clearly beloved members of the operation, with owners demonstrating exceptional dedication to their welfare and successful placement outcomes. Reviewers consistently highlighted the genuine care evident in every aspect of the business, noting that the owners "go above and beyond" in their commitment to both animals and customers. The atmosphere is described as "wonderfully relaxing," creating a "sanctuary" where visitors leave "feeling refreshed and regulated" after time spent with the cats and kittens. One adopter emphasized how thoroughly the owners vet potential homes, taking time to truly understand each applicant's suitability and ensuring each animal finds the best possible forever family—a level of care that extends beyond typical adoption models. The physical space itself is thoughtfully designed to allow browsing of antiques and treasures while maintaining comfortable, low-stress zones for the cats to lounge, play, and interact naturally with visitors. The staff embody an enthusiastic, welcoming energy that reviewers appreciated, making guests feel genuinely valued whether they're adopting, shopping, or simply seeking a calming experience.
